Ever since my little sisters nicknamed the family minivan "Blueberry" back in the 90's I have vowed to never own one. I have always held to the notion that your vehicle is in some part an extension of yourself. We often buy our vehicles not out of practicality or need, but based on emotion. We chose a vehicle because of it looks, iPod adapter, or some other high tech gizmo. However, there is one vehicle that is not purchased because of the emotion it evokes. The dreaded minivan. I think the minivan is the one vehicle that is purchased solely out of necessity. The cold reality is that we can't strap James to the roof of the Galant while his little sisters sleep comfortably on the inside. We tried to hold off on the purchase of the minivan but we couldn't even get the doors closed in our car with three car seats in the back seat. So I have finally swallowed my pride and youthfulness and purchased a minivan. Go ahead laugh, I am too.

Are you sure this isn't the true extension of who your innermost self has always been screaming to be let out? I think it looks great on you! And I'll bet James feels a little warmer and a little more loved now that he's on the inside!
I can so relate to this. We had to purchase the "dreaded" minivan as well after the arrival of our twins. We tried to make things work in our CRV but after much manuvering we were barely able to shut doors like you. Of course, there was also the problem of Max poking eyes and other tender areas of his brothers due to such close contact that we finally decided to give in. Congratulations on joining the club of minivan glory.
Yes, my husband and I made a pact when we got married: never own a minivan....had one for 6 years and love it...
Welcome to adulthood. I think you will find it is much nicer place that post-adolescence-hood. And minivans are just plain handy. And there is a SERIOUS benefit to being able to put a space between each kid so they can't whack each other with their happy meal toys while you're flying down the freeway. Now, when you get to the land of teenagers, we'll talk (and commiserate) again.
Awesome. Thats all I have to say. You Rock Minivanite.
even with two kids i am ready for a bigger car, but your right, i am trying to hold of on the minivan as long as possible. right now, i am still trying to convince my husband that a bigger car/crossover/suv is needed, he still thinks my toyota avalon is sufficient. i am dying for a bigger car, my double stroller doesn't even fit in the car!
